Okay, this is, like, the fifth time I've read this, and I have to give up and admit that I don't get this comic.

You have created a great moral dilemma. On the one hand, I prefer not to try to explain humor. Josh will probably yell at me if I try. On the other hand, well... you asked. So. I'll just tell the story, and not bother to mention why I find it amusing.

SPOILER ALERT:

I'm introducing a character here who is constantly plugged in, to the point where he is an almost Borg-like, Neo-like parody. His girlfriend catches him doing chores, which is evidently unusual for him. He claims that The Internet called him a bad boyfriend. There are many sites on the tubes that specialize in analyzing relationships and/or dumping on relationship skills (AskMe, anyone?), and this is an oblique reference to their prevalence. His girlfriend's response indicates that he has had problems in the past with The Internet talking to him, which suggests that he is, at the least, borderline obsessed (which isn't too surprising, given his futuristic visor/monitor headgear).

His girlfriend then accuses him of having been talked into launching a denial of service attack in the past, which he categorizes as merely an "overload. Of cuteness." Which he suggests was ironic. This is a reference to a very popular website named "Cute Overload," and suggests that he probably deliberately bombarded that site with many, many massive - and massively cute - files until it choked on them.

When he complains that nobody gets irony anymore, his girlfriend makes an offhand observation that maybe the hipsters have gotten old. Hipsters are notorious for filtering everything through irony.

THAT WAS CLOSE, HENDERSON.

Do you guys want to start a crappy comics collective? Me and IRFH can start doing daily output, and John can start doing a much crappier job on his stuff. It'd be sweet.

I'm in! Except for the part where John starts doing crappy work. Someone has to be the class of the outfit.
